Candidates
Receive Party Endorsement
Tuesday, February 16, 2010
HARRISBURG--At a meeting held February 15,
the Dauphin County Republican Committee
unanimously endorsed Pat Toomey for U.S.
Senate, Tom Corbett for Governor, and Jim
Cawley for Lieutenant Governor, as well as
endorsing incumbents State Senator Mike
Folmer (R-48, Lebanon), and State
Representatives Dave Hickernell (R-98,
Lancaster) Ron Marsico (R-105, Lower Paxton
Twp.), Sue Helm (R-104, Susquehanna Twp.)
and John Payne (R-106, Derry Twp.).
"The Committee has emerged unified and
energized after this important meeting,"
County Republican Committee Chairman
John McNally said. "Using the momentum
we built in 2009 we are ready to sprint
towards the 2010 cycle supporting the
best candidates among the field. We look
forward to supporting Pat Toomey for
U.S. Senate, and the Tom Corbett-Jim
Cawley gubernatorial ticket. In
addition, we are excited to send Mike
Folmer back to the Senate where he can
continue to champion reform. We are
proud to return Representatives Dave
Hickernell, Ron Marsico, Sue Helm, and
John Payne back to the floor of the
House and we hope that voters across
Pennsylvania will do their part and make
our representatives leaders in the
majority party. Our legislative team has
consistently fought for Dauphin County
voters and it is clear that they are the
best choices represent their districts
in Harrisburg."
The committee of 280 also voted to allow
for an open primary in the race for U.S.
Representative in the 17th Congressional
District, a five-county district of
which Dauphin is the largest. "Four
quality candidates have come forward for
the race for U.S. Representative and the
Dauphin County Republican Committee will
remain a neutral agent in this race.
Each of the candidates vowed to exercise
the fiscal discipline which each of us
must apply but which is lacking in
Washington. We look forward to uniting
behind the victor after May 18th to oust
Tim Holden."
